Andy Ballentyne rode his first grass track meeting for a number of years at the VC Braintree meeting which was held as an 'Endurance Omnium', consisting of a Devil, 1000m scratch sprint, 8km, Unknown Distance and then the final 'Last Man Standing' event.
Andy was in the top 10 for most of the events including a very tight sprint in the 1000m 'B' final:
Andy Ballentyne rode the winter track league but not as many as he'd hoped. After entering the first event in they were then fully booked until mid December!. He then has to miss a few after that due to business commitments.
He did however manage to win one of the races in one of the league meeting, being the Reverse Win and Out where the bunch sprint for the line with 20, 15, 10 & 5 laps to go plus the final lap with the placings for the race overall of being the first over the line on each of those sprint laps where they then drop out, i.e. 1st at 20 laps to go is 5th overall and the winner on the last lap is the overall winner.
Andy therefore won the final sprint in this race after bridging across to the leading break with 6 laps to go and coming round Paul Roberts on the last lap.
He also picked up some minor placings in other races.
